Three Early Historians: Acusilaus of Argos, Charon of Lampsacus, Damastes of Sigeum (Translated from Greek and commented by I.E. Surikov)Abstract: The publication is a commented Russian translation of three representatives of the most ancient period of Greek historical writing (6th–5th centuries B.C.) – Acusilaus, Charon and Damastes. Each of them is of interest in his own manner. So, Acusilaus may be titled the earliest of all Greek historians; Charon is distinguished for variety of his interests, which often lay on the verge of history and geography; of Damastes, the same may be said.
