Византий и Калхедон во время скифского похода Дария I

Аннотация: В статье рассматриваются военные и политические контакты граждан полисов побережья Боспора Фракийского – Византия и Калхедона с царем Дарием I и его полководцами в ходе событий, связанных с кампанией персов против скифов (513 г. до н. э.) и в контексте обнаружения фрагмента древнеперсидской надписи в Фанагории в 2016 г. Авторы приходят к выводу, что внешне противоречивые данные источников – Геродота, Ктесия Книдского, Полиена и Дионисия Византийского – вполне могут быть согласованы между собой и позволяют выяснить важные детали греко-персидских отношений в конце VI в. до н. э., в том числе связанные с попытками Византия и Калхедона избавиться от господства Дария I.

Byzantion and Calсhedon during the Scythian expedition of Darius I

Abstract: The article discusses the military and political contacts of citizens of the coastal poleis of the Thracian Bosporus, Byzantium and Calchedon, with King Darius I and his commanders in the course of events related to the Persian campaign against the Scythians (513 BC) and in the context of the discovery of a fragment of Old Persian inscription in Phanagoreia in 2016. The authors come to the conclusion that the outwardly contradictory data of the sources – Herodotus, Ctesias of Cnidus, Polyaenus and Dionysius of Byzantium – can be coordinated with each other and allow to find out important details of the Greco-Persian relations at the end of 6th cent. BC, including those associated with the attempts of Byzantium and Calchedon to get rid of the rule of Darius I
